No one can thrive without nourishment. Yet, hunger touches 42 million Americans — including one in six children. During the pandemic, 79% of hunger relief organizations in the United States served more first-time clients than ever before.
As the need for hunger relief increased, providers struggled with waning volunteer bases; storage and preservation of perishable foods; and the adoption of online programming, education and outreach alternatives during COVID-19.
Mayflower wants to help change that. As a brand both rooted in the past and focused on the future, all of us at Mayflower understand the importance of giving back fortifying the communities in which we serve. Mayflower partners with organizations that help eliminate food waste, increase food security and fight hunger in the United States. Similar to the ship in our logo, we are on a journey seeking new opportunities and pathways to progress that goes well beyond simply moving our customers safely across the country. When our communities thrive, we all thrive. That’s why we’re asking you to join us in supporting Move For Hunger.
A national nonprofit organization that has created a sustainable way to reduce food waste and fight hunger, Move For Hunger has mobilized moving, relocation and multi-family housing industry leaders so their customers, clients and residents can donate their non-perishable food when they move.
Additionally, Move For Hunger members organize community food drives, participate in awareness campaigns and create employee engagement programs to benefit communities nationwide.
