<h2>Lamps and Shades Should be Packed Separately</h2>
<h3>Lamp bases</h3>
<p>Before you pack the lamp base, remove the light bulb and the lamp harp. Wrap each piece individually in news wrap. Place the pieces in a box, packing the empty space well with crushed paper. It is okay to pack more than one lamp per box if space allows.</p>

<h3>Lampshades</h3>
<p>Do not wrap lampshades in printed newspaper. Instead, use tissue paper, a pillowcase, unprinted news wrap or a lightweight towel.</p>
<p>Choose a box at least two inches larger than your lampshade. Place a layer of crushed paper under the lampshade. Line the shade with clean paper, but do not add crushed paper around the shade. Do not pack anything else with your lampshades.</p>
<p>If your shade is not silk and it is large enough that a smaller shade can placed inside of it without touching, then you can safely nest the two shades together. Otherwise, pack them separately.</p>

1. Disassemble the lamp.  2. Discard incandescent bulbs as they break easily in transit. CFL    or LED bulbs can be wrapped in bubble pack and placed in a box with other fragile items.  3. Wrap the power cord to protect the lamp from scratches. 4. Wrap the harp and finial in newsprint and label.  5. Use a paper pad to wrap the lamp. A paper pad is a multilayered paper wrap used to protect larger fragile items. Place wrapped lamp upright in a box.  6. Close the box and secure with packing tape.  7. Label the box.  Lampshade  1. Use crumpled newsprint to line the bottom of the box  2. Put a lampshade in the box. Only pack one lampshade per box.  3. Fill in gaps with crumpled newsprint to keep shade from shifting.  7.
